Ragnar Frisch Centre for Economic Research (FCO), Norway
Frisch Centre is the host institution for CREE, the Oslo Centre for Research on Environmentally friendly Energy. CREE is a social science based energy research centre funded by the Research Council of Norway. The centre started its activities in August 2011, and is funded for 5 years, with a possible 3-years extension.
The main focus of CREE is economic research as the research partners include the Frisch Centre, Department of Economics (University of Oslo), the Research Department at Statistics Norway, and Tilburg Sustainability Center (the Netherlands). The cooperation with the Centre for Development and Environment (University of Oslo), Faculty of Law (University of Oslo), SINTEF Energy Research and Institute for Energy Technology broadens the research perspective. The user perspective is ensured by several partners from industry and government.
One of FCO's (CREE) research partners is Statistics Norway (SSB). The Research Department of Statistics Norway (SSB) forms one of the research partners of the CREE Centre, which is hosted by FCO. SSB's The two research units on Environmental Economics and Energy Economics are the active participants. The staff consists dominantly of economists. Activities aim at publishing research at the frontier of economics on some chosen topics, including the economics of climate change and international and national climate policy.
